Meet Chidi Mokeme: Actor, Motivational Speaker, Serial Entrepreneur
While thinking of a befitting title for this article to celebrate his birthday, yes today, 17 March — St Patrick’s Day, I considered a range of options.
I’ve known Chidi from pre-teen years as classmates in secondary school. Interested? Do a Google search for his bio.
Chidi is a “Nollywood actor” and a darling to most followers of Nigerian movies — aka Nollywood — both in Nigeria, and in the Diaspora.
I caught up with him sometime in Dubai while he was attending another celebrity’s wedding — Tubaba, i.e., TuFace Idibia. While their “friendship” speaks to something I had always considered as a potential research topic, i.e., the intersections of “film” and “music”, I would leave that conversation for another day.
In the meantime, however, you may wish to read excerpts of the conversation from our Dubai encounter — Here’s a sneak peek:
Success in the entertainment industry requires dedication, Perseverance, discipline, and a burning desire fuelled by passion. Don’t be deceived by the bright lights. The glamour, glitz, and razzmatazz of the “Red Carpet” are the reward for all the hard work and sleepless nights that go on behind the scenes.
Recently, and keeping abreast with trends — notably the “streaming” and “mainstreaming” of film, Chidi is back on a “Nollywood” treble: Akachi, Entangle, and The Therapist — courtesy of RokStudios.
I wrap up by calling on Nollywood friends and family to join me in celebrating Chidi’s community service through film, as he marks +1 today.
